Because Girls Gone Happy is all about creating friendship, support, and connection between women - and our Brand Ambassador Program brings this to life - we’re going to do away with stuffy introductions here, and instead I’m going to geek out on our fabulous community members! Read on to also hear from them about the ways they love to use their GGH Card Decks, and how being a Brand Ambassador is supporting them in reaching their own personal and professional goals.

After reading about how lovely they are, I imagine you might like to connect with our Brand Ambassadors to find out when they’re offering a group, or to invite them to table at your event or host a workshop in your community - so we’ve made it super easy by including their contact info at the end of each introduction. Happy connecting!

With love,

Justine H.

JANESSA JACKSON

I met lovely Janessa this fall when I was interviewing for a Fulfillment Assistant. I think I kept her about two hours after she was scheduled to leave the coffee shop, because I was enjoying our conversation so much! Janessa has an amazingly soothing energy - you can tell upon meeting her that she is wise, introspective, kind-hearted, and deeply curious. Her grounded energy is palpable and comforting. Currently Janessa manages a coworking space, project manages construction of a new space, is building up her photography practice, and leaning into her desires to facilitate workshops for women and organizations around work/life balance. She is open-hearted and clear about the ways she is trying to build a career for herself that feels both meaningful, heart-cenetered, and also responsible and sustainable. I really appreciate her candor and thoughtfulness.

In her own words:

What led you to say "yes" to being a GGH Brand Ambassador?

Choosing to be a Brand Ambassador was a big, strong yes for me because I believe in the power of introspection and the decks give you the ability to sit with yourself and reflect in a structured way. They are truly a product I believe in! Saying yes was also easy because I knew I could make this program what I wanted because Justine really emphasized using our independence and individuality.

What's your favorite way to use the GGH cards?

I love bringing the Clarity or Money deck with me to a coffee shop with my journal and doing a couple of pulls to just check in with myself. I don't really pull the cards to answer a specific questions, I use them as a way to figure out how I am feeling and to spark inspiration. I also love sharing my responses to different pulls on Instagram. I want to show people that whatever they are facing is probably more universal than they think.

What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?

The best part about using these cards in a group setting is how they create really good material for connecting participants. When participants answer the questions on the cards, they are excited to share their revelations with the group because they've discovered something new about themselves or their perspective. These shareable moments also help participants realize that whatever they might be facing might be more universal than they thought which makes them feel less alone.

In her own words:

What fills your days?

My days a filled with a lot of candle making and planning for my business, a busy toddler who is using the word no to its greatest potential , a preteen screaming at people on Fortnite way past his bed time, a husband who has stepped on beads from my latest crafting project (Again), and all the chaos that comes with not only living with my family of 4 but living in a large communal home with my parents and siblings. It’s not easy but all of these crazy little moments are what fills me. They are the memories that I will cherish forever, the laughs, the tears, the stolen kisses and everything in between.

I quit my job in 2018 to fully dive into my own self care and to pursue all of my passions full time. I launched my own wellness shop 12thglow.com. I also host cool self care based events for people in underserved communities because everyone deserves to take care of themselves.

What ultimately led me to say yes to being a GGH Brand Ambassador was my own experience with another Brand Ambassador Janessa Jackson. Her clarity workshop was so amazing, she also talked about this amazing community and right then I knew it was something I NEEDED to be apart of.

My favorite way to use the GGH cards is to start each morning with a deck of cards.

Whatever the deck reveals to me I like to take that topic and think about it for the day or a few days depending on how deep it resonates with what I have going on at the time.

What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?

I’m most excited about the breakthroughs or those “ah ha!” moments in the groups. Sometimes we all need a little guidance and the decks really help build those loose connections we sometimes have sitting in our minds. I love the sisterhood the decks bring out. You don’t have to be close friends but there’s something so freeing about the decks you find yourself sharing with complete strangers.

LIZZY SCHLAX

image1 (1).jpeg

Lizzy is perhaps the most on top of it and organized lady I know - and also manages to not make you feel terrible for being a slob when she's got everything color coded and ready to rock! I met Lizzy when she was a student in the Young Involved Philadelphia Board Prep Program. Since then we served on the PhilaSoup board together as President and VP.

In her own words:

What led you to say "yes" to being a GGH Brand Ambassador?

I became a GGH Brand Ambassador, first and foremost, because I use the product! I used the motherhood deck every single day during my maternity leave to help me journal and reflect during the newborn haze! Over a year later, I have been going through the deck again in small groups with other mothers and noticing how my feelings have shifted with time. I also was already naturally sharing the decks with my friends - everyone got a motherhood deck as a baby shower gift last year!

What's your favorite way to use the GGH cards?

I like to pull a random Topic and Question card. I’m a visual person, so I lay the cards side by side in front of me and read them over a few times, paying attention to the thoughts, reactions and questions that pop up in my brain as I read. Then I jot the topic, question, and those first reactions at the top of a journal page. I sit with that for a few minutes and try to think about the narrative that is emerging. When I think I’ve hit on the beginning of a thread, I start writing.

What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?

When using the cards in groups, I like to use the Topic cards as a theme to center the discussion around.

Then, I pull a Question card to get there conversation started. Participants can either respond to that Question, respond to the Topic generally, or pull another Question card. The thing that is most exciting to see is how people react to others’ responses. Two people responding to the same Question can have completely different perspectives, and hearing someone else’s perspective can spark a breakthrough! Or sometimes someone has the exact same reaction as you do, when you thought you might be the only one, all alone with that thought!

BRANDYN CAMPBELL

IMG_20190805_105515_085.jpg

Brandyn's company is like a big cup of coffee - which from me is the highest compliment. She's warm, energizing, comforting, fun, and reassuring all at once. I met Brandyn when she was a student in a volunteer program I managed, and we have stayed in touch over the years. Brandyn is a freelance writer who had a really successful sports blog for years, and she has now launched her own company that helps small businesses with their own blogs. Brandyn also has two beautiful little ones, and I appreciate that she is always honest about the ups and the downs in what's going on in her life - from trying to build a community in a new town, to starting a business with two tiny kids, to the constant struggle between wanting to do all the things, and learning to honor your limits. Brandyn is figuring out how to fit hosting GGH groups in with all the other projects she's working on - including hosting monthly events with Pepperlane for other "mompreneurs" - and is looking at ways to use the Clarity and Motherhood Decks with friends and her community.

In her own words:

What led you to say "yes" to being a GGH Brand Ambassador?
I've long known Justine as an entrepreneur and friend. Everything she did with GGH was so appealing, on a spiritual, visual, and entrepreneurial level. At one of the most hectic times in my life, her cards were one of the only things that could get me to stop, pause, and reflect. I can't think of a single woman I know who doesn't need similar inspiration to slow down and take stock of what it's all for. Knowing how much I've benefited from and admired the brand, I was honored at the opportunity to be a Brand Ambassador.

What's your favorite way to use the GGH cards?

Currently, I use them as journal prompts. After a hiatus of several years, I've realized that it's important for me to work through my own stories, realities, and challenges. There are about 20 things I've like to write about at any given time, and my GGH cards help focus my thoughts and writing on a single area of my life for much needed mental decluttering.

What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?

I'm excited about using the cards as a way to deepen relationships with other women and support one another through the unspoken mental loads that we all carry. I look forward to providing a safe space where we can all work through challenges and work our way out of overwhelm.

LIZ FEVER

Ban.do_5-16-19_Quarter-Moon-Co_147.jpg

Liz and I also most recently connected when I was looking to hire a Fulfillment Assistant, and I put in my big spreadsheet notes next to her name about how authentic, professional, enthusiastic, and inviting she was. In a sea of generic responses, she stood out as real, thorough, thoughtful, and sincere. I've also known her to be incredibly patient, honest, and understanding. On Instagram Liz has a fabulous body positive fashion feed, and also hosts an awesome podcast, The Inbetweenies, with her bff. Liz works in Administration at Temple University, and is working on developing content around the Clarity Deck for a body positive group she's a part of in Philly. She's also looking into ways to use the Money Deck with a group of friends to explore the relationship between self worth and money. I'm so glad that we have connected and I know that what she creates will be heartfelt, candid, and truly special!

In her own words:

What led you to say "yes" to being a GGH Brand Ambassador?

I fell in love with the GGH cards pretty much immediately, after giving the Motherhood deck to multiple people in my life and using the mini Clarity deck! I was so excited to jump in and love on the Money & Clarity decks, and they actually turned out to be EXACTLY what I needed in this season of my life.

What's your favorite way to use the GGH cards?

I love using my GGH Clarity deck at my desk each day, as a grounding exercise as I prepare to tackle my to-do list or as a midday ritual to recenter myself and focus. I've also loved bringing the decks into group situations, especially with friends and other business owners! I want to do so much more of that in the coming months.

What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?

In a group setting, the cards become really wonderful conversation starters and have helped me continue to explore themes that I may not have thought of alone! In a group, the cards allow folx to share deeply, and it tends to spark new ideas for everyone, not just that person alone. I'm excited to continue to bring groups together around the cards, and whether I'm facilitating or am an entry point for groups to use them on their own, I hope they bring joy, clarity and deep conversation.

BRANDI AULSTON

What are some things about yourself that you're proud of and that we should know about you?

Before I finished graduate school I decided that I wanted to create something on my own outside of the corporate job setting. I received a double master's degree in Health Administration and Health Education as well as a bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Public Health. In between, I became a fitness instructor where I taught Zumba and group fitness classes for gyms and community centers. As you can see, I am truly passionate about overall health and wellness.

Two years ago I visited Colorado for the first time. I fell in love with the crisp air and the scenery surrounding me. During that trip, I went on my first hike with friends. The 3.5 hour hike had its challenges, from the steep climbs, icy trails, and thin air. However, I felt amazing afterwards (and I'm not just talking about the endless bowls of Hot Pot afterwards). When you experience walking of any sort, you feel clarity and a release. I was inspired to start hiking when I came back to Philly. However, I never made it a priority because its easy to get lost in the 9-5 hustle and endless papers in grad school.

One day the idea just came to me...and I thought, it would be so amazing to get women together to hike for their physical and mental health while creating a community where they feel free to share whatever is on their minds or bogging them down. So I just did it... I finally put it out there and received so many positive responses. In April, I held my first group hike on Wissahickon Trail's Forbidden Drive.

• What led you to say "yes" to being a GGH Brand Ambassador?

First off, I had been following the GGH Instagram page for some time and I thought this is so decent...I would love to be one of these beautiful and fearless ladies that flood their feed. Our hikes start off with a warm up and intention setting. We then hike to our halfway mark and have a "Mindfulness Break." During the break I read a passage that then forms a discussion amongst the women. After, checking out their website it just clicked! I can be a part of something that builds women up while creating a village of togetherness. When Justine explained how much freedom I have to be creative and make the card decks work for my own group, I knew this was the beginning of something amazing.

• What's your favorite way to use the GGH cards?

I look forward to incorporating the card decks within our group hikes. We will incorporate the card decks during our "Mindfulness Breaks". Additionally, we have guest speakers that join our hikes and share valuable messages to the women in our group during these mindfulness breaks. I believe these card decks will assist in facilitating conversations and developing lasting bonds between the women involved.

• What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?

I want to create a space where I can build a strong community of women who want to prioritize their self care while meeting other like minded women. I can clearly see these cards being used in future hikes and events to connect women together in a powerful and healing way.

MARIANE LEON

What fills your days?

Screenshot 2019-09-03 at 2.02.57 PM.png

Listening to music! It sets the mood - whether it emphasizes how I feel or changes my feelings all together. From Radiohead to Lizzo, I love it. Writing, listening, and reading are also huge parts of my days. I like to journal, in traditional and nontraditional ways. Poetry, quotes, TED Talks, influencers, podcasts from time to time... I like experiencing other perspectives and ideas, even if I do not agree or understand. Keeps me either grounded in what is true for me or empathetic to what I don't want/have the capacity to understand or verbalize.

What are some things about yourself that you're proud of and that we should know about you?

I'm really sensitive and vulnerable. I care deeply about people and I used to really be bothered by that. Sometimes I still struggle with that truth, but I'm always recognizing the power of being that way. I'm open to folx in ways that they sometimes haven't experienced and I value that so much. Safe space is everything but so hard to find for many folx, so I am always looking for ways to advocate for myself and others and be vocal about what is safe/unsafe. I love the color yellow shamelessly - like literally give me all the yellow things. Also, I love myself. That's a big deal - took a long time. And I love myself always, not just on good days, but especially on the bad days. I'm not perfect at this love thing, but I'm learning to give myself a hug rather than a critique when I'm feeling like I'm not being my best self. Self-compassion is tough, but I'm finding my way.

What led you to say "yes" to being a GGH Brand Ambassador?

I love gathering, reflecting, and just delving deeper. There's so much growth in community and when I experienced GGH at Babe Fest (thanks Janessa) I knew I wanted to get involved and utilize the decks in the community spaces I'm already in and the spaces I want to create.

What are you most excited about in terms of using the cards in groups?
I'm excited to guide a rich conversation and allow for others to stop and journal and then speak out loud and take up space in ways they aren't always allotted. I want to watch real connections form and offer people a tool to help them navigate what may be difficult or isolating situations and conversations within a safe and nurturing space.

BIANY PEREZ

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Biany when I first moved to Philly six years ago, and we worked together on the teacher education/youth programming at Art Sanctuary. What a blessing this was!

Biany is a powerful force - she is a doula, a therapist, a tarot reader, an educator . . . every time I spoke to her she quietly mentioned yet another way she was working as a healer! She has an amazing work ethic and always seemed to be juggling graduate school and seven different projects/jobs with grace. Biany is also a mom to two beautiful little ones. I am grateful to have met her as my own spiritual curiosity was opening, as she was a patient friend and guide into different practices and modalities, and her kind heart and deep knowledge make her an amazing teacher and lady. She's been incorporating the Clarity Deck into her tarot spreads on Instagram, and also working with the Money Deck more and more.
